Class and Teacher Tags
A class or teacher name can be assigned to a student account, making it easier to view information for groups of students. This is especially useful for displaying a tracking list (Tier 1 Tracking).
Class and teacher tags should be created prior to creating your learner accounts, though it is possible to assign a tag to an existing account.
Up to four different tags can be assigned to each student account:
  • Class Name The name of a class.

  • Class Instance The name and start and finish date of a class.

  • Teacher The name of a teacher (and manager, if applicable).

  • Classroom The location of a class, consisting of a name and airport code.

Creating Class and Teacher Tags
  1. Use the Login button at the top of any VIASINC webpage to log into the VIASINC environment with your Master/Admin account number and password.

  2. Click the "Launch Admin" button at the top of the webpage to launch the System Administration utility.

  3. Your Master/Admin Account Record will appear. Items that are underlined are links to actions or further information. Most of your work will involve using the drop-down menus in the black box at the top of the screen.

  4. Open the "Manage" menu in the black box at the top of the screen by clicking the "+" symbol next to the name.

  6. The tags are the first four items in the Manage menu. Click to open the tag you wish to create.

  8. Click "Add" in the Operations column to create the tag, enter the tag name when prompted, then click "Submit." (Any "Add" link in the Operations column may be used.)

  10. Your new tag will appear in the list. Additional operations are available to edit the tag name (Edit), remove the tag (Remove), or display a list of logins which have been assigned the tag (Who).

  11. Repeat Steps 4-6 to create additional tags as needed.

  12. When ready, use the "Exit" link in the upper-right corner of the black box to exit System Administration.

Assigning a Class or Teacher Tag

Follow these steps to assign a class or teacher tag to an existing learner login.
  1. Use the Login button at the top of any VIASINC webpage to log into the VIASINC environment with your Master/Admin account number and password.

  2. Click the "Launch Admin" button at the top of the webpage to launch the System Administration utility.

  3. Your Master/Admin Account Record will display. Retrieve a list of learner accounts using the "Retrieve-->Account List" menu option in the black box at the top of the display.

  4. The Retrieve Account List Form will appear. Change values as needed to display your student login accounts, then click "Submit."

  6. A list of learner accounts matching the criteria in the Retrieve Account List Form will display. Underlined words are links you can click to perform an action or display additional information.

  7. To assign a tag, click the "assign" link in the "Class Name," "Class Instance," "Classroom" or "Teacher" column.

    A batch operation can be used to assign the same tag to a group of learners. Select the accounts by placing a check mark in the box on the far right, open the drop down menu at the bottom of the screen, choose the correct batch operation, then click "Submit."

    All accounts can be selected (or unselected) by clicking the "Select/Deselect" column header.

    In this display, a Class Name has already been assigned to each learner. You can click on this name to remove the tag or assign a new one.

  8. When finished, use the "Exit" link in the upper-right corner to exit the program.
