A company's network is its information infrastructure. If you can keep the network secure, you can keep the systems on that network secure.

This course provides the skills needed to secure a modern LAN network. It teaches how to enforce security on firewalls, routers, and switches and how to monitor the overall network to detect and prevent against attacks.

The course features hands-on work on Cisco network devices and Linux-based monitoring systems. The student learns how to enable the most important security-related features and how to manage network security on an ongoing basis.

All skills and knowledge gained are directly applicable toward the CompTIA Security+ certification.

Career Implications

Cyber crime is on the rise, and network security skills are some of the most crucial. Information security is one of the fastest growing career paths in any industry, and one that continues to add jobs.
